| Your Cleaning Answers |
1. What cleaning method do you use?
Hot water extraction. It works like this: a hot water cleaning solution is fired under high pressure into your carpet – right down to the base fibres. (This helps to break up the soiling, bacteria, chemicals and pollens in the carpet.) Then the machine produces huge vacuum volume to - almost instantly – suck back out of your carpet the cleaning solution bringing all the dirt with it.
2. Are your cleaning solutions environmentally friendly?
Yes. The main cleaning solutions we use are made from the same category as food stuff, are hypo-allergenic, safe for pets and children therefore contain no harmful chemicals. All cleaning solutions are removed in the rinse cycle in the cleaning process and our stain protector is harmless when dry.
3. Can you get out stains?
We can remove any spot that is not a permanent stain. We have a good success rate with tea, coffee, ketchup, coke, crayon, paint, rust, blood, vomit, urine and many more spills but there are no guarantees with any of the above. The chances of success are increased if the carpet has been treated with a stain protector. Often the success rate is reduced by the application of unsuitable ‘off the shelf’ products.
4. How long does it take to dry?
As a very rough guide; a carpet that has been cleaned will often be dry within a couple of hours. If stain protector has been applied it will take probably a couple of hours longer. It depends very much on the type of carpet and room conditions. Upholstery is much the same. The person carrying out the survey will be able to advise you more accurately.

5. How soon can I walk on it?
You can use the carpet lightly immediately after cleaning but it’s best to keep heavy traffic off the area until it is completely dry.
6. Will I have to move all the furniture out of the room?
All we request is that you move as many of the small items as possible i.e. coffee tables, dining chairs, floor lamps etc. Heavier pieces such as sofas, dining tables, beds etc. we move around the room as we clean. Items such as dressers, wardrobes, bookcases we tend to leave in situ and clean around, unless specifically requested otherwise.
7. Why do you insist on coming out to quote?
This gives us the opportunity to:
test the type of carpet/fabric to be cleaned.
test for shrinkage.
test for colour run.
test the carpet has been correctly fitted.
measure accurately the carpet/curtains.
discuss the type of clean you want.
discuss particular problem areas or stain.
give a written quotation. |

8. How long will the survey take?
Despite that long list above it really doesn’t take very long. If for instance you simply want one room cleaned it may take only 10 minutes but if you need the whole of your mansion cleaned including all curtains and upholstery it may take a little longer! We do try not to outstay our welcome though.
9. Do you collect and deliver rugs?
Yes and this is free of charge.
10. What about reappearing spots?
If a spot returned a day or so after cleaning, it may have been oily or sticky and was not completely removed or wicked back from the base of the carpet due to the nature of the spot, or possibly it is not a spot but a permanent stain. Please contact CleanLiving if you have a reappearing spot on your carpet and we will be happy to assist. |

| Your Cleaning Tips - Stain Prevention Guide |
What to do when you have a spill on your valuable Carpet or Upholstery:
Don’t panic but act quickly.
Nearly all spills are liquids and they are often water based. Examples: tea, coffee, wine, milk, juice etc. If it’s a water based, liquid spill - blot with a white tissue, (fold 3 or 4 kitchen tissues into a pad).
This blotting action transfers the spill from the carpet or fabric onto the pad. Apply light pressure to start with and then press harder if needed as more and more of the spill is transferred onto the tissues.
With a spill on a carpet, where the spill has soaked down into the pile, the final deep-down traces can only be removed by heavy pressure. To achieve this, place 3 or 4 clean tissues on top of the spill and stand on them until the tissue comes away clean. Use fresh tissues as necessary.
Important Note – This process cannot be rushed. For instance, a glass of wine or a cup of coffee could easily take 5 minutes and use up 2 rolls of kitchen tissue.
For Partly Solid/ Partly Liquid Spills
If the water-based spill is partly solid, then the solid part must be removed first by carefully lifting it away with the back (blunt side) of a knife blade.
Follow this with the blotting procedure, as described above.

If Traces Of The Spill Are Still Visible
In both cases (whether the spill is liquid or partly solid), where the spill is still partly visible after blotting - use the following procedure: -
Lightly mist the area with your CleanLiving Spot Remover.
Gently wipe the misted area with a damp sponge (Do not rub or over-wet).
Carry out the blotting procedure (as described above).
Repeat until there is no further improvement.
